Why Invest In Asbestos Assessments and Clearances

  • Protect Your Health: Asbestos exposure poses serious health risks, including lung diseases and cancer. Getting professional assessment and clearance ensures your property’s safety and its occupants’ health.

  • Legal Compliance: New Zealand has strict regulations regarding asbestos management and removal. By obtaining professional services, you ensure compliance with local laws and regulations, avoiding potential fines or legal issues.

  • Peace of Mind: Knowing that your property is free from asbestos hazards provides peace of mind. You can rest assured that you live or work in a safe environment.

  • Property Value: Asbestos-containing materials (ACMs) can decrease a property’s value. Removing asbestos and obtaining clearance certification can enhance its value and marketability.

  • Professional Expertise: Licensed asbestos assessors and removal specialists have the expertise and equipment to identify and safely remove asbestos from your property. We follow strict protocols to minimise risks and ensure thorough clearance.

  • Preventive Measures: Proactively addressing asbestos issues can prevent future costly repairs and health complications. Investing in assessment and clearance can save you time, money, and stress.

Asbestos Assessors

Our licensed asbestos assessor is crucial in detecting and monitoring asbestos-containing materials (ACMs) on your property. Using advanced technology and methods, they conduct thorough inspections to identify ACMs in areas like walls, ceilings, and insulation.

We provide reports outlining ACM locations, types, conditions, and tailored management or removal advice. Our assessors are experts at distinguishing between Class A (friable) and Class B (non-friable) asbestos, ensuring the proper removal techniques and safety measures are applied.

Our team guarantees safe and compliant asbestos processes through careful air monitoring, clearance inspections, surface testing, and adherence to strict safety standards. We provide continuous assessments and preliminary checks to ensure compliance with WorkSafe NZ guidelines, ensuring the highest safety levels from start to finish.

Asbestos Clearances

Upon the completion of asbestos removal by a certified specialist, it is the duty of the individual or entity that initiated the removal at a workplace to ensure a clearance inspection is conducted and a clearance certificate is provided before the area is deemed safe for re-entry.

Clearance inspections after Class A removal tasks are exclusively performed by independent assessors certified by WorkSafe. The assessor will grant a clearance certificate if and only if they are satisfied that the area previously contaminated with asbestos no longer presents a health or safety hazard due to asbestos exposure, thereby marking the area safe for reoccupation.

WorkSafe emphasises that the obligation lies with the Person Conducting a Business or Undertaking (PCBU) to directly hire the services of the assessment company, distinct from the removal company, to uphold the principle of independence in the evaluation process.

FAQs - Asbestos Assessment and Clearances

Aerem offers a comprehensive range of services for asbestos management, including review of Asbestos Removal Control Plans, various types of air monitoring (Background, Personal, Control, and Reassurance), provision of Reoccupation/Clearance Certificates for ‘Class A’ and ‘Class B’ removal works, site inspection and sampling, and detailed assessment reports. Our licensed assessors and clearance specialists ensure safe and compliant asbestos removal and inspection processes.

Professional assessment and clearance services are vital to protecting health, ensuring legal compliance, providing peace of mind, enhancing property value, and offering professional expertise. These services help identify and safely remove asbestos, minimising health risks and ensuring that properties meet regulatory safety standards.

Class A asbestos refers to friable asbestos, which can be easily crumbled or reduced to powder by hand pressure. Class B asbestos is non-friable, meaning it cannot easily crumble. Aerem’s team is skilled in handling both types, employing the appropriate removal techniques and safety measures for each.

An asbestos assessment report from Aerem includes detailed information on the presence, type, and condition of any asbestos-containing materials (ACMs) found on the property. It also provides tailored management or removal advice, ensuring informed decisions can be made regarding asbestos handling.

Aerem conducts rigorous clearance inspections and surface sampling after asbestos removal work. We issue clearance certificates once it is confirmed that the area is clear of all asbestos hazards and complies with safety standards. This certification process ensures the area is safe for reoccupation.

Our team of licensed asbestos assessors and clearance specialists have extensive expertise in Class A and B asbestos. We prioritise health and safety, use advanced safety equipment, and provide comprehensive support and assistance throughout the asbestos management process. Aerem’s commitment to meeting and exceeding regulatory standards sets us apart.

To begin, contact Aerem to schedule an initial consultation. We will understand your needs and concerns, perform a thorough site inspection and sampling, and provide a detailed assessment report. If removal is necessary, we’ll coordinate with licensed contractors and conduct a clearance inspection to ensure your property is safe and compliant.
